I was in the same lot as a young adult. Wish I had the opportunity to read the best Christian books for young adults at my early age of salvation.

I recently got hooked into the book-reading culture after going through the Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan.

Since then, I have dived deeper into reading Christian books, which have shaped my spiritual life for the better.

Are you a young person looking for the best Christian books for young adults? You will love what I have for you today.

Here are the Best Christian Books for Young Adults we’ll be reviewing:

Benefits of Reading Books as a Young Christian

Growing up at this age is tough, no doubt about it. There is so much access to information with an influx of entertainment. As a result, many young people get lost in the world.

With all the confusion, is there any relevance in reading books that can bring back the sanity of God in our hearts? Yes, here is why.

Books bridges gaps

I never knew C.S Lewis personally. I was born many years after his death. But I have come to connect with his personality by reading some of his books.

This is why books have been essential to different generations. All of us see the world through separate windows, but we are still curious to know how others see it.

It’s this urgency of curiosity that leads us to read books. As a result, we end up becoming better after learning a thing or two.

Godly books are a reflection of the Bible

A book is the end product of what God has ministered into the author’s heart. They already have teachings to inspire the reader before they start penning the words.

The book becomes a tipping point where the reader starts to understand God’s word from the author’s knowledge. It’s at this moment that the Holy Spirit takes control and begins to teach the reader personally.

Christian books are powerful tools for Transformation

Indeed, the Holy Spirit has supernatural power. He is the only one mandated by God to transform our lives and take us closer to God.

But until we appreciate that books also have a part to play in the transformational power, we will never see the bigger picture.

Of course, the author must be inspired by the Holy Spirit to write. It’s the same scenario we see when 40 inspired men sat down and crafted the bible.

By reading Spirit-inspired books, we enter “the lives of the authors” and see how God ministered to them.

Let’s take for example a testimonial book. You get to see the problem the author faced before God rescued him.

If you are in the same situation, you will be encouraged to continue trusting because the same God will rescue you in due time.

Reading Helps Us Become Leaders

 Harry Truman:

“Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.”

There’s no doubt that readers are great leaders. As believers, the world and God expect us to lead in our endeavors. It can be in the house, school, or workplace.

Wisdom is hidden in learning. While God tells us wisdom is from Him, we fuel the gift by reading books. You can then apply it to every obstacle life presents you.

Tips to Make your Book Reading Successful

You have your favorite book ready. It’s time to start turning the pages. You are pumped up in the first few days, but your zeal slowly fades.

Sounds familiar?

I faced the same challenge when I was reading Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life. But I got a way of overcoming the feeling.

Don’t Feel the Pressure to Complete a Book

Most readers don’t finish reading books. Our attention is slowly drifting from print media to digital media.

This means that you don’t have to break your back, trying to finish a book for the joy of finishing.

It is better to start with at least 3 to 5 chapters per week. Still, ensure you learn something from it before you continue.

Read for Transformation, Not Information

Don’t just read because you want to join the intellectuals club. Every book has a lesson that God inspired the author to write.

Have a desire to learn something new from each chapter. To internalize what you have learned, write your insights in a notebook or in the margins of the book.

If you get an exciting insight, share it with your friends or those close to you to keep the information alive. Otherwise, you will just be checking over your to-do list.

You Don’t Have to Go By Everything You Read

In some instances, you might feel that the author’s idea doesn’t go with your beliefs. This is common to staunch book readers. The only book you should trust 100% is the Bible.

It doesn’t mention that you should look for the smallest mistake and go all critical. You will miss out on the big picture, which is to expand your mind and the knowledge of God.

Now that you are well-equipped for reading, let’s check the best Christian Books for young adults you should add to your library today.

100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls by Jean Fischer

227489: 100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls: Unforgettable Tales of Women of Faith

Is your daughter’s birthday near? This would be a perfect gift for her.

There are many things to love about the book, but the approach is something worth mentioning. It’s a compilation of 100 extraordinary women from the Bible, history, and those who have made history in their times of existence.

It does not have a specific age group and any girl ages 8 and above can read it. The language rhymes with girls and inspires them to be the world-changers God has called them to be.

Some of the amazing women in the book are Lydia, Naomi, Jane Austen, Rahab, Rebekah, Rosa Parks, and Mother Teresa.

The mix of the characters shows girls that they can be leaders at any time. All they need is the recognition of Jesus and courage to fuel their greatness.

A sneak peek inside, and you will love the presentation. Unlike most books with white plain pages and chunks of paragraphs, the book has taken another turn.

All the pages have full-color illustrations and various art styles. This feature helps for interactive reading.

  • Each bio has a verse connected to women.
  • It does not sugarcoat the struggles of every character.
  • The book is not graphic; hence can be read to 6-year-olds.
  • Short stories will not bore the readers.

  • The book has stories of martyred women, which parents should be aware of.
  • Some stories lack deep insights into a character hence a bit scanty.

How to Stay Christian In College by J. Budziszewski

915493: How to Stay Christian in College, Revised Edition

I will agree that staying as a Christian in college is tough. Apart from being mocked by fellow students for being a believer, you’re left to battle the antithetical ideas against your religious beliefs.

As a result, only a handful of people make it through the toxic environment that destroys spiritual health. This book might be of help if you’re going to college or already in the same situation.

It’s written by J. Budziszewski, who is a professor at the University of Texas. Having seen the rise of secularism and the notion that a young believer can’t make it through college, he came up with practical reasons explaining why it is possible.

The book will guide a student through the maze of campus realities. He sets the bar just at the right height and gives loads of advice on how to overcome temptations.

The author has backed up his insights with biblical verses that fuel the fire for God in the heart of a young person.

  • Hardcover book hence, very sturdy.
  • Uses an easy-to-read font.
  • The chapters and sections are marked.
  • Written in an entertaining style to keep reading.

  • It only targets secular colleges and not Christian colleges.
  • Some of the advice and insights are generic.

Through the Fire To Be On Fire by Marcus Rogers

Christian Books for Young Adults

Have you ever come to that moment where you think God has forgotten about you? We’ve all been there. Or maybe you are facing it right now. This book will change your thinking.

Marcus Rogers has seen it all. Talk of financial difficulties, heartbreaks, anxiety, sickness, and suicidal thoughts. Just when he was about to throw in the towel, God showed up and began to reshape his life.

This book is inspired by the real-life struggles of a young man. The change came after he had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The takeaway of the book is that nothing happens to a believer without purpose. God is using your story to create a testimony. Behind every suffering, the Lord remains the master planner.

The book might be an excellent gift to encourage a young adult who has lost hope. Marcus uses a robust tone to connect to your situation and provide an answer through God’s word.

  • Has practical examples of life struggles.
  • He shares the truth clearly and concisely.
  • The writer is transparent about reality regarding his Christian Walk.
  • Ideal for someone looking for a spiritual guide.
  • Uses large fonts for clarity.

  • You might come across grammatical errors (If you have an English degree, of course).

Final Thoughts

So what would be my best choice? Honestly, all these five books are fantastic. They have powerful messages for this generation.

But I think Sadie Robertson’s Live Fearless book takes the cake. She is a young author and understands young adults better.

She is also a good role model for many people. Her book might be the first addition to your Library.
