In a world where anxiety seems to be a part of life, boldness is a rare sight. There are a lot of stories of boldness in the Bible. How do we get to the point where we can say that we are as bold as a lion? How do we claim power and love for ourselves? Can we leave worries behind and live with expectation and hope? We can find answers to this in the Bible, so we have picked Bible verses that teach us what we need to know about boldness.

Bible Verses About Boldness

What are Bible Verses about Boldness?

Most of the things we buy these days come with manuals. Even if nobody reads them, they are still important, especially when it comes to maximizing the functions of the product and its proper care.

Bible verses about boldness are like a manual for us. God gave us boldness through the Holy Spirit, and these Bible verses teach us all about it. They show us what we can do with it and, in turn, our responsibilities with it.

What Does the Bible Say about Boldness?

The Bible talks about boldness a lot. Like us, people in the Bible have also suffered because of their faith and principles. They experienced rudeness, humiliation, violence, and outright rejection. Despite this, they persevered and held on to their faith, and we are encouraged to do the same.

Examples of Boldness in the Bible

Noah

Noah is one of the people in the Bible that showed boldness. Building the most gigantic ship anyone has ever seen, collecting animals, and living in that massive ship with your family, and all the animals in the world is one of the boldest things I can think of next to sneaking food into the movie theater.

Deborah

Deborah lived in the days when war was a way of life. They were about to go to war, and the usual practice is to have a man lead them. So, even if Deborah was the current judge, she summoned Barak to lead the army under the instruction of Yahweh. We are not sure what happened to Barak, but we know that he lacked the courage and boldness for the task.

He refused to go if Deborah would not go knowing what was at stake. Because of this, even if Barak led the army with Deborah at his side, the glory of defeating their enemy was given to a woman named Jael.

Daniel

Lions can look cuddly and sweet in videos of their interactions with humans, but the danger of being around them should never be underestimated. As in Daniel’s story, it would be even scarier when they were polished and honed to kill like weaponry.

His advisors tricked Darius into decreeing that everyone should pray to him and not any god or human being for a month. It was Daniel’s habit to pray to God three times a day. He was caught and was then thrown into the lion’s den. Even in the face of death, Daniel chose God and the truth.

Best Bible Verses about Boldness

Bible verses about boldness in Christ

Acts 28:31

“He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!”

People used to fear Paul because he hunted Christians in the beginning. He had an encounter with Jesus on his way to Damascus, and since then, he has decided to follow Jesus and His teachings. Here in Acts 28:31, we will see that Paul, who drove people in fear before, was boldly proclaiming Jesus Christ to others now.

Acts 4:13

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

Boldness always catches people’s attention. We find it fascinating. People saw Peter and John, who were not highly educated, boldly teaching people about religious matters, and they were shocked. This is what Jesus Christ can do in our lives. He can give us confidence in what we are teaching because we know that it is the truth.

Philippians 1:20

“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”

People who believed in and followed Christ Jesus back then were constantly in danger because of religious conflicts in their society. Still, Paul found the courage to face death in the face daily to stay in his faith.

Ephesians 3:11-12

“This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”

When Jesus died on the cross, He gave us a second chance at our relationship with God, and because of this, we can now approach God with boldness, not because of anything we have done but because by the blood of Jesus, we have been made worthy of God’s presence.

Bible verses about boldness in the faith

Bible Verses About Boldness

Hebrews 4:16

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Hebrews 4:16 does not tell us to saunter confidently into God’s presence and list our demands. Paul tells us that we can now approach God without the fear of being rejected because we have been reconciled to Him through Jesus.

Hebrews 10:22

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

Faith gives us the assurance that God loves us and hears us. It assures us that we will be forgiven if we repent wholeheartedly. We can come to God about anything and know that He will answer and be there for us.

Hebrews 13:6

“So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

When we say that God is our helper, we do not mean that He is like a servant to us. The Word of God tells us that the phrase “God is our helper” implies that He is like a reliable friend who has never failed us. And with Him on our side, we have nothing to fear.

Psalm 138:3

“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.”

There are times when we cannot avoid feeling weak and exhausted. We can rely on God to give us the strength we need in every situation.

Bible verses about boldness in sharing the Gospel

Acts 4:31

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

Christians in the early church experienced intense persecution and rejection because of their faith. We now experience persecution for our faith in different ways. God does not change, and as He protected Christians in those days, we can count on His protection today as we proclaim the Word of God.

Acts 18:26

“He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.”

Proclaiming the Word of God with boldness is one way to show people that we firmly believe what we are preaching because it is the truth. It also takes us closer to people of the same heart and mind, and as we grow closer to them, we all grow in our faith.

Acts 4:29

“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.”

Proclaiming the Word of God is not an easy task. Unfortunately, we can experience threats, humiliation, and even violence in some cases. Acts 4:29 is a prayer to God spoken by His followers before proclaiming His Word.

Let this prayer connect us to the early fathers of the church and their faith despite the suffering, and let it be an inspiration to us to keep the faith and proclaim God’s Word.

Acts 14:3

“But the apostles stayed there a long time, preaching boldly about the grace of the Lord. And the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders.”

God never abandons us, especially when we are doing His work. While we proclaim His Word with boldness, He will work in the person’s heart and let faith grow. We plant the seeds of faith, and God makes it grow in His time.

Ephesians 6:19

“Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the Gospel.”

Sharing the Gospel should not be done alone, as the Apostle Paul has shown us. He never goes out without asking the guidance of God, and in Ephesians 6:19, we can see that he also asks for prayers from other believers. Let us believe in the power of prayer as we speak the Word of God.

1 Thessalonians 2:2

“But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the Gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.”

One can say that being a Christian is like a bed of roses but with the thorns intact. It is not always smooth and full of rainbows. We will experience hardships because of it, and in this case, this is what happened to Paul. Despite this, they did not let go of their faith and boldness in proclaiming the Gospel.

Bible verses about boldness and courage

Proverbs 28:1

“The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”

A proverb says, “We make our own ghosts.” The consequences of our decisions and actions are bound to catch up with us one day. The wicked are chased by the ghosts of the products of their past, while the righteous are bold because we have nothing to fear.

Ephesians 3:12

“This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.”

God’s plan of salvation was magnificent, and because of it, we have been granted the assurance that we have been forgiven and that we will always have a place in the Kingdom of God.

Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Knowing that we are not alone brings incredible comfort and confidence. Knowing that God is on our side will get even more exceptional comfort and confidence to enter His presence and be filled with the Holy Spirit to be overflowing with joy no matter what we face in life.

1 Corinthians 16:13

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

Sometimes, to be bold, we need some pep talk. The Bible gives us a lot of these. We will find encouragement and inspiration if we open it and reflect on it regularly.
