What are the Best Bible Verses for Birthdays?

Here is a list of Bible verses that are best for birthdays.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”

Birthdays are all about God’s blessings and faithfulness in a person’s life. These verses convey our goodwill and love to the person that we are greeting. Every good thing that we can wish for that person dear to us.

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Birthdays are days of rejoicing. Our birthday is the day we first took our breath, the first blessing God gave us. It is only right that we rejoice in it even better if we have others to rejoice with.

James 1:17

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

With birthdays come gifts. It is our tradition to buy or make gifts for those that are dear to us. We put a lot of time and effort into thinking about what they would want, and we think of the perfect time and way to give it to them. This verse reminds us how good God’s gifts are.

Psalm 20:4

“May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”

Dreaming and planning are part of human life. We dream, we long for things, and we work for them. One of the best and most thoughtful things we can pray for others on their special day is the realization of these dreams.

Psalm 37:4

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Prayers are not the only things we can give others on their birthday. We can also give them reminders about God’s will and how they can start a new year of their life following what God wants which is always the best for us.

3 John 1:2

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”

We may all be familiar with the saying health is crucial and can even be considered wealth. This is what this verse says. It prays that the people it reaches will find good health not just in the physical aspect of their life but also in their spiritual life.

Psalm 9:1-2

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.”

Birthdays are blessings from God, so it is only right to give thanks to Him for the blessings He has so generously given. A testament to God’s goodness is also a good way to greet someone on their birthday. Especially if the person is very dear to us and we are thankful for their life.

Psalm 139:13-14

“For you created my inmost being: you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

God gave us life. But more than that, God created our intricate bodies. The human body is truly amazing. Birthdays are a good time to remind our loved ones that they are special in God’s eyes and ours as well.

Ephesians 2:10

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

One of our needs, even if we are not aware of it, is purpose. Even if we have everything we want, sometimes, it still does not feel like it’s enough because we are searching for the purpose or the reason for it all.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Another good thing we can give to our loved ones on their birthdays is lessons. It is good to remind people of the best path they can take for the following year.

What Does the Bible Say About Birthdays?

The Bible says very little about birthdays. The truth is, the Bible does not say that we should not celebrate birthdays, nor does it say that we should. One reason for this could be that celebrating birthdays was not part of the culture of the people in those days.

Although it is believed that people took note of their birthdays because the Bible records the ages of people. However, few accounts explicitly talked about celebrating birthdays. Taking note of something and celebrating it are two very different things.

Should Christians celebrate birthdays?

So a question arises: Should Christians celebrate birthdays? Although we can find a few verses that talk about birthdays, we can find a lot of verses in the Bible that talk about rejoicing, thanksgiving, honoring God, and lessons as to how we should live our lives.

These things can apply to our celebration of birthdays. Being thankful to God for blessings is a good part of our culture. Christians should celebrate birthdays because we should grab all opportunities to praise and thank God and to rejoice with the people we care about.

Are there any Bible characters who celebrated their birthdays

There are two accounts where people celebrated their birthdays. One can be found in Genesis 40. A baker and butler were imprisoned by the Pharoah and there they met Joseph who interpreted their dreams.

The butler dreamt that he was serving the Pharoah. He was holding the Pharoah’s cup and from the vine, he took the grapes, squeezed them, and gave them to the Pharoah. The baker’s dream on the other hand showed him holding three baskets of bread on the top of his head.

The top basket held the baked bread that was meant for the Pharoah and birds were eating them. Joseph interpreted their dreams with God’s help and inspiration and told them that the butler would get his old job back while the baker would die. This all came true on the Pharoah’s birthday.

Another person that is recorded to have celebrated their birthday is King Herod. On his birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced and Herod was so pleased that he promised her even half of his kingdom if she wished it.

She wished for John the Baptist’s head on a silver platter. True, these stories sound way too grim for birthdays. But birthdays and celebrating them are not necessarily grim or dark or sad. It depends on what we do with it. We can choose to be grim about it or we can choose to rejoice and make it a blessing not just for us but also for others.

Why is celebrating birthdays important

Celebrating birthdays is important to Christians because we would want to grab every opportunity to praise God and thank Him. Celebrating with our loved ones, reminding them that we think of them, and thanking God for their life is good and beneficial for a lot of people involved.

Birthday celebrations bring happiness. They bond people tighter. They can help people look forward to a new year of life with hope and thanksgiving. Jesus never taught about celebrating birthdays but He did tell a parable about parties (John 14:16-24).

He once made sure that there is enough wine at a wedding so that people would continue to have fun and have a good time. It would be best if we keep in mind that these celebrations are not really about the celebration itself but about how we can be a blessing to others.

Importance of Sending Bible Verses for Birthdays

There are several reasons why celebrating birthdays is important. Birthdays are our beginnings. We took our very first breath on the day we were born. Everything we are today and everything we hope to be started at that moment. That is worth celebrating.

Also, by celebrating our birthday, we acknowledge that it is something special and that we have God to thank for it. A birthday symbolizes a year of our lives that have passed and the beginning of a new year in front of us.

It is a good time to examine our lives, see where we are, and plan where we want to go. It can also be a way of welcoming new blessings that God will shower in the new year that will travel on.

Lastly, and not least, celebrating birthdays is a good way to bond with others. Celebrating something is easier and more meaningful when we can share it with others.
