Find inner power with these Bible verses for healing and strength to stir you up, point you back to truth and encourage you.
When I was a kid, I used to wish and pray to be sick so that I could skip school. I would pray, “Please, Lord, give me a slight fever. Something that would convince my mom to let me stay at home but not bad enough that I cannot watch TV.” I saw sickness as a free pass back then.
Now, whenever I ask people what their prayer requests are, or vice versa, good health will always be there on the list. There are so many frightening diseases today, and we want to rest assured that our family and we will be safe from them. Let us see what the Lord says about healing through the Bible.
What are Bible Verses for Healing and Strength
Our faith does not bring us immortality, invincibility, or incredible powers. We are not exempted from sickness or worries. We may be even more prone to them than other people because the Enemy will never stop until he has broken us. He would throw diseases and sickness at us like he has done countless times before to numerous people.
We must hold on to the assurance that we are not alone in this fight because God stands with us; God fights with us. The Bible is full of the promises of the Lord, and His word never fails. We can use these Bible verses for strength and healing to get through tough times and strengthen our faith whenever we feel like giving up.
The Lord, our God, can heal the sick and renew our strength. The thing is, we have to believe; we have to have faith in the Lord just like His twelve disciples. Modern medicine and health professionals may fail, but God never will. So let us read these healing scriptures and find comfort and strength while we wait for the Lord’s healing in our lives.
Bible Verses for Healing and Strength From Jesus
The woman that bled for 12 years
A woman had been bleeding continuously for twelve years, and she had already lost everything because of this sickness. One day, Jesus went to their town, and she firmly believed that if she just touched the hem of Jesus’ cloak, she would be healed. Jesus acknowledged her and told her that her faith had healed her.
The ten lepers
In those days, people did not understand skin diseases all that well, so they would label most skin diseases as leprosy and would force the people infected to live outside the city walls. It was a lonely and dangerous way to live, so when ten lepers heard that Jesus was coming their way, they shouted until Jesus noticed them and asked Him to heal them. They were all healed, but only one came back to thank the Holy Servant Jesus.
Bartimaeus was a blind beggar. He heard that Jesus was coming his way, and he shouted to get Jesus’ attention. People shushed him, but he shouted even louder instead. Jesus called him over, and he threw his cloak, a sign of faith.
Blind people in those days had special cloaks so people would quickly identify them and get out of their way. By throwing his cloak, Bartimaeus was showing that he was claiming that he would be healed, and Jesus told him that, indeed, it was his faith that healed him.

Being a Christian does not make us immune to sickness and weaknesses, so we can find comfort and assurance in these healing Bible verses.
Bible verses about physical healing
1 Peter 2:24
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds, you have been healed.”
This Bible verse for strength and healing talks about how God loved us so much that He sacrificed His own body so that we may be healed and saved.
“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.”
There has been considerable evidence of how our faith can strongly influence our healing. God honors those that believe, and He grants them their heart’s desire.
“Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”
God does not want us to suffer because He loves us, so He will send us healing and blessings when we need them.
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
God created us as social beings, so we need human connection in our lives, and this cannot be more apparent in our times of weakness and sickness. This scripture on strength and healing in James 5 shows us that the earnest prayer of our brothers and sisters is powerful and can be uplifting to us.
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness.”
Jesus came here on earth not just to save us or proclaim the Gospel to us but also to heal. He came here on earth to heal the sick: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Wherever God is, there is healing.
Bible verses about spiritual and emotional healing
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
God rested after creating the world, and He is calling us to come to Him whenever we are feeling weary because He knows how vital rest is. So let us spend time with God and His healing mercies until we find the strength to keep going. Matthew 11:28 tells us that it is okay to rest and that we will always find rest in the Lord through the Holy Spirit.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
We may feel like we are all alone at times, and that realization can make us feel weak and down, but the truth is that God is always with us and will help keep our heads above the waves, and Isaiah 41:10 reminds us of this truth.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
The worries and fears of life may rob us of joy, but we should not be afraid because Christ Jesus brings perfect peace into our lives. And no amount of fear or anxiety can shake that peace.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
We will always need things in our lives, and they are not always material things but also intangible things like love, forgiveness, and healing. The good news is that the Lord provides us with whatever we need.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Worries and anxieties can plague us at times because of things we went through in the past or maybe because of people in our lives. Let us hold on to the Lord because He will always be there for us, calming our hearts and minds and telling us that we can count on Him.
“Lord, by such things people live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live. Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.“
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.“
Bible verses about healing from Psalms
“Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.”
This psalm tells us that the Lord will bring healing into our lives when the perfect time comes. Our testimony to His power and love is essential because it might also lead others to believe and find healing themselves.
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.”
Genuinely praising someone includes appreciation for their talents, skills, or heart, and when we praise God, we look back at all the things He has done in our lives. We would find that sometimes, the best way to get through a difficult situation is through praising the Lord and being reminded of His love and compassion, as Psalm 103:2-4 reminds us.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
This Bible verse on healing tells us that the Lord does not just encourage us when we fall. Psalm 147:3 means that He sees us and our injuries personally, and He heals us with His hands.
The Lord has raised all kinds of doctors and scientists to cure diseases, and we trust them, quite literally, with our lives. But, we must keep in mind that health and healing come from the Lord through these people. God heals every disease and sickness.
The Lord can also mend hearts no matter how much damage it has sustained. As He commanded the sea and the wind to quiet down, He can bring peace to our minds full of chaos. The Lord knows exactly what we are going through and how we are feeling and faring.
Let us put everything down at His feet and trust Him and His healing. We have to trust and wait for His perfect plan. Waiting is not always easy to do so while we are waiting for God’s healing, let us turn to the Bible and let the healing scriptures comfort us.
