10 Key Prayer Points for Youth

Prayer points for youth are ways to surrender and ask the Lord to cover the most vulnerable individuals.

It is not easy being a young Christian in a world filled with self-doubt, temptations, and fear.

The youth is a demographic vulnerable to the fallenness and evil of this world.

This susceptibility and attack against children are why it is essential to share prayer points with them.

These points may serve as a guide in lifting their lives to God and allowing them to be under God’s love and sovereignty.

What are Prayer Points for Youth?

For Christians, prayer is a powerful means of connecting with God and a spiritual discipline in and of itself.

We all use prayer to convey gratitude, ask for pardon, seek direction, and release our worries and fears to God.

We pray for loved ones and our fellow Christians.

At present, prayer is the weapon we use against a warring world.

Having prayer points for youth is a way to surrender and ask the Lord to cover the most vulnerable individuals.

It is also a way for them to know what to pray for when they are overwhelmed and confused about what to say.

Why Should We Consider Prayer Points for Youth?

It is crucial that we pray for the youth in our lives, especially the youth in our church.

In a worldly environment, today’s youth are facing tremendous difficulties.

As they seek guidance and purpose, their impressionable minds and hearts are easily tempted in various ways.

They are persuaded to think that their experiences are coincidental, that their voices are unimportant, and that no one is paying attention to them.

By sharing prayer points with the youth, we can teach them about God, who loves and cares for them.

Through prayer, we have the avenue to impact their lives genuinely.

By communicating with God about the things they need, the youth of today will discover that they are not alone and can make a difference in this world for the glory of God.

Now, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”

But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, “I am only a youth; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.

Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.”

10 Powerful Prayer Points for Youth

Intimate relationship with Jesus

The youth look for security and love in many worldly things.

Some of them seek serenity and a deep relationship with Jesus in a world filled with distractions and confusion.

Jesus’s death and resurrection made it possible for us to have access to God the Father.

Prayers require honesty, vulnerability, and humility before Jesus.

Having a personal relationship with Jesus is a significant and meaningful experience for the youth as it is the manifest evidence of Jesus’ presence in their lives.

A vital prayer point for youth is to remember that a deep and intimate relationship with Jesus is what can fill the desire for security and the void in their hearts.

Cultivation of spiritual disciplines

The key to success in any endeavor is discipline.

More often than not, praying and other spiritual disciplines, like reading the Bible, may feel inconsistent, sporadic, and even all over the place.

Praying for the youth to cultivate spiritual disciplines is like setting and training them up for battle.

We pray that they will not practice spiritual disciplines in hopes that they will be merely affirmed and validated.

God’s gift of grace allows us all to practice spiritual disciplines.

Therefore, we must pray that our youth, immersed in social media, gaming, and vices, go against the tide and intentionally spend time with God.

Godly friendships and relationships

As social beings, friendships, and relationships are crucial to our growth.

As a united body, the church is built with many relationships centered on Jesus.

Praying for godly friendships and relationships for the youth will help them fully experience God’s love and blessings.

Friendships and relationships that point them to Jesus and encourage them to trust and obey Him are like an oasis in a deserted world.

Like every other part of their life, the youth’s relationships require God’s grace to be strong and healthy.

As they are young and indecisive, the youth may feel easily disconnected from others.

But through faith and covering them in prayer, they can be reminded that God shows and enables godly friendships and relationships with others.

Health, safety, and protection

While the youth may be filled with vigor and physical strength, they remain vulnerable to the evil and danger of this world.

Thus, we need to pray for a strong body and mind.

As individuals who have a lot of activities in their days, we ask God for good health so they may be able to fulfill their responsibilities and be free from any fatal illnesses.

We also ask God to cover them with His mighty protection against physical, emotional, and spiritual attacks.

Submit and obey God’s will and word.

Finding purpose, acceptance, and obedience to God can be challenging for youth.

Thus, it is important to pray for their strength and faith and for them to follow what God has planned for them.

We pray they will not succumb to the temptation of rebellion against parents, authorities, and God.

They may be surrounded by peers who deviate from the ways of righteousness.

Therefore, we must pray for their strength and perseverance to stand by the truth of the gospel of Christ despite possible pushback.

Comfort, encouragement, and endurance in times of suffering

The youth of today may often feel lost.

Many of them feel anxious, depressed, and weary.

Through prayer, we can ask God to show them to trust in Him even as they endure all the challenges and hard times that come their way.

Through God’s grace, they may understand that the hard times may prune and purify them into Christlikeness.

We shall pray to God to strengthen their faith, bring them joy, encourage their spirit, and make them more resilient through their difficulties.

Wisdom and discernment in an age of information

The youth at present are digital natives, which means that they were born in a world where the internet is ubiquitous.

They have never experienced life without technology.

Information is at the tip of their fingers at ultra-high speed.

Though this can be advantageous, there are many risks involved in this information age.

We must pray for the youth to be discerning and wise amid the technological developments around them.

We pray that they will resist the temptations of the digital world and pick up godly things that they may use to know the right thing to do, glorify God, and serve Him and others.

Purity

To live a Christian life, one ought to understand the importance of purity of the body, mind, and action.

We pray that God cleanses and purifies the youth’s minds and motives.

Though arduous in a tempting world, we believe that God will strengthen and guide the youth in ways that will allow them to be ambassadors of Jesus, who will make a significant difference.

Bolding and strength in fighting temptation

The youth are susceptible to temptation and negative influences because they are vulnerable and impressionable.

God can shield His young children, guard their hearts and minds, and keep them safe from the enemy’s attacks.

The Lord promised that He would not allow one to be tempted beyond what one can endure (1 Corinthians 10:13), so we can be assured that He will strengthen our youth in fleeing temptation and repenting from sin.

We shall pray for our youth, asking God to convict them, give them a repentant heart, and afford them the grace to walk the path of righteousness.

Purpose-filled life anchored in the gospel mission

As early as their age, the youth can live purpose-filled lives centered on serving God and expanding His kingdom.

We must pray for God to reveal His purpose, anoint the youth with specific gifts they can use to share the gospel of Jesus, and not cower in declaring Jesus as their Savior and Lord in a hostile world.

We can also pray for God to surround the youth with godly mentors and spiritual parents who can encourage and guide them toward spreading the Good News to influence their peers and more individuals outside their circle of influence.

Joy and hope in a fallen world

It may be easy for young people to become restless and weary.

Since they tend to wear their hearts on their sleeve, they experience frustrations and disappointment quickly.

Let us pray for God to fill their hearts with joy and hope and for Him to be present in their lives in tangible and personal ways.

Let us pray that they will realize that true joy and hope only come from the Lord and their relationship with Him.

With abounding love in their hearts from the everlasting love of God, they may be able to share God’s joy and hope with others.

Final Thoughts

Prayer points for youth allow us to surrender the youth’s life to God and intercede for them.

They are an important demography of the church and need our prayers.

We intercede for their salvation if they do not have a relationship with Jesus or pray to seek God when they neglect to cultivate their intimacy with Him.

Despite the promises of pleasure from worldly life, it is crucial to show and encourage today’s youth that only God can give them the wisdom, motivation, strength, courage, peace, and love that they need to pursue their calling and follow the path that will fulfill God’s plans for them.

May you be encouraged to consider these prayer points for youth and cover our young ones in prayer!
