A Prayer of Acknowledging God’s Sovereignty

Christ Jesus,

I come into Your presence in this surgery prayer.

I declare Your sovereignty over my situation, my health, and my upcoming surgery.

You are sovereign over my physical body, sovereign over the doctor’s hands, and sovereign over this loud pain I feel.

Sometimes, I feel anxious and deeply concerned about what will happen.

Yet in all, You remain to be my healing Physician.

Jesus Christ, Our Lord, despite all the pain, I receive that my healing process starts today.

You know the start, the end, and the in-between things in my life.

Nothing will ever shock You or even throw You off.

Lord God, never have You worried, so I will not worry myself.

I lift my prayers for surgery and trust in Your healing power and peace as I fall asleep tonight.

You are sovereign not just in my surgery, Lord, but in every situation and season of my life.

In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.

Lord God,

I come humbly and with frailty in this surgery prayer as my spouse will be having surgery.

I rally the heavens with praises and prayers for surgery in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Lord, I pray for your strength as we go through this challenging time as husband and wife.

Equip me to be Your healing hand to my spouse, especially in this surgery.

Give me the grace to love and care for my spouse as you do.

I pray for your healing power to be upon her and for her successful surgery, Father.

I pray for total healing, a life lived in peace, and a joyful acceptance of the outcome.

Mold me to be the spouse you designed me to be, not just as my spouse goes through surgery but in all the days of our lives.

A Prayer for Your Child Before Their Surgery

Almighty God,

We commit our child to your loving care and sovereignty.

We know that they are going through different emotions and concerns as the day of the surgery is near.

As parents, we know that the best we can do is to fill the heavens with prayers for surgery.

You have blessed us with our child, and we thank You for the privilege of being parents.

In this surgery prayer, we ask that You give them peace and assurance.

We pray that you provide for their every need and future needs.

We pray that our child goes into the surgery room.

May You prepare every medical staff.

As our child lay on the operating table, may their minds be upon you.

As the surgeon performs the operation, I pray for wisdom.

We thank You, our eternal God, for a successful operation as we give You our prayer for healing our child.

In the name of our loving Father, we trust.

Amen.

A Prayer for your Parents or Grandparents Before Surgery

Father,

One of our family members is going to undergo surgery soon.

We come to You with a prayer for healing and Your abiding presence to be with them.

As the body begins to experience human frailty, we pray that you fill their hearts and minds with Your Word that supplies them with everything good.

I pray for the pain medication to work in the body of our family member.

We pray for Your healing hands to touch them.

If possible, God, let them not go through the surgery anymore.

But if it is Your will, Jesus Christ, our Lord, that they do, I pray for a successful operation and a full recovery.

Jesus Christ, be with them in the operating room as they undergo delicate surgery.

May You guide the surgeon’s hand, and may they remain present always.

You are our sovereign God, and we know these prayers will not fall on deaf ears.

We thank you for healing and Your favor.

In the name of our Jesus Christ, our Lord, I pray.

Amen.

A Prayer For Your Friend Before Surgery

Christ Jesus,

Today, I pray for my friend who will be going into surgery.

I entrust my friend to you, God.

As Jesus walked on water, I know nothing is impossible in Your name.

We believe in your healing and that they can safely pass this challenge in their life.

God, I pray for a successful operation, a quick recovery process, and complete healing.

Bless them and protect them.

I surrender in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

How to Prepare Being in Prayer Before Surgery

Here are some ways how you can prepare before praying.

  • Take some time to calm your mind and body, and prepare to receive from Christ. You can do this by sitting or standing comfortably, closing your eyes, and taking slow, deep breaths.
  • Focus your thoughts on God. Take a few moments to think about who He is and what He has done for you.
  • Express your prayers out loud or in silence. It is up to you how you want to pray. There is no right or wrong way to do it. Just be honest with God and express what is in your heart.
  • End your prayer time by thanking God for His love and care for you. Thank Him for His provision and protection, even during times of surgery.

Bible Verses to Include in Prayer Before Surgery

2 Timothy 1:7

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.”

A health scare can be threatening, but God’s Word reminds us that we should not fear when facing different trials.

He will empower us, give us the courage to face anything, and give us hope in His goodness.

Isaiah 40:29

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

God can give us complete and total healing and the strength that will never run out.

He is able, and he can do what most people think is impossible.

1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

God understands that anxiety and doubts may kick in when we face an upcoming surgery.

He reminds us that we can surrender it to Him safely, past any doubts we have.

Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The verse is one of the most reassuring verses that I have encountered.

God gives us a blueprint for what to do when we feel anxious: stop, praise, and receive His peace.

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”

As we pray, we must constantly think about His goodness.

Faith believes in His goodness even if the things around us do not.

In Conclusion

A prayer is a powerful tool that we can use to surrender our fears and concerns to God.

It is a way for us to thank Him for His provision and protection, even during times of surgery.

If you or someone you know is about to go into surgery, take some time to pray these prayers.

Just be honest with God and express what is in your heart.

He will meet you where you are and provide you with the strength and courage you need during this time.

Amen.
