Do you have days when you feel defeated and in despair? Even in my adult years and in a relationship with Christ, I still have days like that. As a follower of Jesus, I remind myself, “Trust God with all your heart.” But what do we do when we continuously feel angry, disillusioned, and maybe even forgotten by God?

If we are honest, sometimes trusting God can be highly challenging. But the God who brings life to the dead is the same God who enables us to trust Him. This article will help you say prayers for trusting God, especially during troubling and trying times.

What are Prayers for Trusting God?

Prayers for trusting God are prayers to talk to God when we have doubts, cannot understand our human experience, or when the path ahead seems unclear. Through prayers for trusting God, we experience God’s presence even when things seem hopeless. Through His strength, we are able to keep the faith and live out His great plan for us.

Significance of Saying Prayers for Trusting God

Powerlessness, fear, and anxiety are the usual feelings we have when we are struggling or facing various challenges. As Christians, we get a sense of peace when we quiet everything down, focus on our relationship with God, and speak to Him. When we say prayers for trusting God and ask Him to help us trust in Him, we humble ourselves before Him. This humility opens the door for us to be Spirit-led. It makes room in our hearts to be enabled by the Lord.

When we focus on trusting God through prayers, we redirect ourselves to His desires and will, not ours. Even when we do not understand what God is doing, we remind ourselves of His sovereignty and goodness through prayers for trusting God. These prayers bring peace and put our anxiety into godly perspectives. Prayers for trusting God guides us back to Him.

How to increase faith in saying prayers for trusting God

We may find it challenging to focus on trusting God when we are going through rough times. How can we have faith that God is good, that He is able, that He is who He says He is? How can we put our trust and confidence in Him when we have no idea what lies ahead of us or if our suffering will ever end? These are valid questions. But God, being the all-knowing and all-compassionate God He is, is right there with us to answer our questions. Maybe not in the way we want, but in the way that allows us to experience who He is.

We cannot trust someone we do not know. Therefore, to trust God, we must get to know Him. To know Him, we have to read and understand His word – the Bible. The Bible chronicles numerous examples of God’s responses to believers experiencing difficulties. Scripture shows God’s love and shares the ultimate evidence of such love – the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus. In times of doubt, it is noteworthy to remember that God’s Word will never fail or change.

Another good starting point to trusting God is admitting we are experiencing doubt. When we are honest before Him, we become open to God and allow Him to remind us of who He is in our lives. An intimate relationship with the Lord entails letting Him know how we feel and why we are having trouble trusting Him. After admitting this, we repent and seek His guidance to lead us back to Him.

Being open to others about our struggles in trusting God is also essential. Our walk in the faith is not meant to be trodden alone. God authors and orchestrates godly relationships that will sharpen us. Having a community of believers to confide in will be helpful.

Lastly, having a consistent gratitude posture can help us trust God. When things are challenging, it might feel like everything around us is going awry. However, it helps to remember what God has done for you, remembering that His grace abounds and everything He allows has a purpose.

In hard times

Lord, I know that life is not immune to hardships and trials. But my strength is not enough to overcome. Help me put my trust in Your power and compassion. I humbly lay at Your feet today all these things I am going through. Help me to believe that You have a purpose and plan for me. Give me the confidence to trust that when I need You, Your grace is available and accessible. May I experience your steadfast love in these trials and glorify You amidst the pain. Keep me in Your loving care and protection, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

After experiencing a loss

Heavenly Father, I know that You see how grieved I am about losing someone I love and care about deeply. My life feels directionless and purposeless. I feel as though I have lost all faith and trust. There is a weight in my heart because of the absence of my loved one, a weight I cannot shake off. There are days when I am grateful for life, but then I am overcome with profound sadness. Lord, I come to You now, lifting my grief and loneliness to You. Please, God, help me in this pain. Help me see this loss in the light of Your eternal love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

During uncertain times filled with fear and anxiety

Dear God, I know that the enemy uses anxiety to keep me from you. Father, I ask You to shield me from the attacks of the enemy and the fallenness of my heart. I seek not the peace from this world but the peace that only You can give.

Father, I pray for the discernment to identify the deception, falsehoods, and temptations cast upon me. I pray that You will not only take away my worries but also give me the strength to trust in Your never-changing love. Remind at all times that there is nothing to be afraid of because You are in control. Fill me with your overflowing love and peace, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In making difficult decisions

Dear Lord, I am faced with the overwhelming task of making a difficult decision. You know how this can impact many areas of my life. I pray for wisdom and discernment in everything I need clarification on. May Your Holy Spirit lead me to the right path so that I can resolve all these questions and challenges. I ask for Your enlightenment, guidance, and clear direction in making this decision. Help me experience Your grace in this situation, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In the morning, before starting your day

Dear God, I pray to You with faith that You are in control as I begin today. I am confident that You will be with me throughout this day. Help me put my faith and trust in You with everything ahead of me. Knowing that I am strong in You and capable of overcoming any difficulty that comes my way today, I pray that You will lead and protect me. In all that is before me, may I glorify Your name. Amen.

To protect from danger and spiritual attacks

Dear Father, as I face the spiritual struggles and attacks surrounding me, I put my faith in Your love, mercy, and protection. Keep me secure in Your mighty presence. Instill in me the confidence and trust in You alone, and not my strength or anything in this world; that in believing in You, I will never be forsaken and lost again. I ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

For faith to bear fruit

Dear Jesus, I ask You to bestow upon me grace and understanding so I may mature into Your likeness. Lord, I know that the fruit of my faith can only be produced by a life that continues to abide in You. As I strive to live my life in a way that honors the Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that You keep me close to You. Lord, keep me in your loving care always. Amen.

Prayers for Trusting God

Final Thoughts

Trusting God may feel like free-falling into the unknown. It is scary placing one’s life in the care of another and relinquishing control. Even if we do not admit it, when we are experiencing pain, rejection, and failure, we find ourselves seeking God. We can trust in God because He is a promise-keeping God, mighty and able. He provides us with grace and favor. Often, we do not see immediate answers to our prayers. What do we do after that?

As we live in challenging times, fear and disbelief keep us away from God. Amidst all that, we must continue saying prayers for trusting God and looking for the little, personal, and unique ways that God cares for us throughout our days.

As we continue to grow in our relationship with the Lord, He wants us to trust Him more. When we put our faith in the Lord and utter prayers for trusting God, even when His plans seem incomprehensible and painful, He blesses us in ways beyond what we can imagine!
