Top 15 Popular Wedding Bible Verses

Weddings are significant events and milestones in people’s lives, and we need the Word of God as a guide, so these wedding Bible verses are essential to peruse.

Weddings are holy because we do them in the presence of God. We make vows in front of God and men. We join two lives full of love in this event, and that is a beautiful thing that fills our hearts with hope. So, it is only fitting that the Word of God be present in this event to bless it and guide the new couple in the new journey that they would embark on.

What are Wedding Bible Verses?

Weddings are essential and are full of joy and love. Wedding Bible verses remind us of what God thinks of love and commitment. They give us encouragement and assurance that love comes from God, and they also tell us that we should love each other, which is needed in a marriage

Wedding Bible verses shower the blessing of God in the wedding ceremony and spur the couple on with the love, peace, hope, and wonder that comes from God. They serve as guides and assurance to the couple.

What Does the Bible Say About Weddings?

At first glance, it might seem like the Bible does not say much about weddings, but that is only because the tradition or the ritual of weddings we have today varies significantly from their wedding rituals in ancient times. However, if we look closely, we will see that the Bible says a lot about marriages or the union of two people.

Genesis 2:20 tells us that Adam and Eve were joined together, and this happened because Adam was lonely and needed a helper. In this instance, a helper means someone who “surrounds, protects, and aids.” It does not lower the woman’s station, but instead, it indicates that the woman is equal to a man and that she is his “better half.”

Revelations 21:2 describes the New Jerusalem, the church, as the bride of Christ. Marriage is holy in the eyes of God, and we can read in 2 Corinthians 6:14 that the best kind of marriage is the one between believers because we must let God be the center of our marriage.

Best Wedding Bible Verses

Bible verses for wedding ceremony

Romans 12:9-10

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

If our love is not sincere like God’s love, if we are not devoted to our partners or do not honor them, the relationship will suffer a significant toll.

John 15:12

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

God’s love is the perfect kind of love, so if the love we give to our partners is the kind of love we receive from God, it would be healthy for the relationship.

Mark 10:9

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

God always knows what is best for us, even the best partner we can have. So if God leads us to the other, we have to trust that they are the best for us. We must always work on the relationship.

1 Peter 4:8

“Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

Nobody is perfect, but it enables us to accept others despite their flaws and mistakes, and we can manage to forgive them.

1 John 13:18

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

We must tell the people we love that we love them, but it is also essential that our actions back our words up.

Bible verses for wedding blessings

1 Corinthians 13:8

“Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”

Love can conquer many things if we only give it the strength and the faith it needs.

1 Corinthians 16:14

“Do everything in love.”

Everything can be lighter and more manageable when we include love in the equation.

Proverbs 3:3

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”

Love and faithfulness are critical in any marriage, so we must ensure that we never lack either.

Ephesians 5:22; 25-26

“Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.”

These verses are often taken out of context because they are not about who should be followed or superior but how each should treat the other.

1 John 4:7

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”

God is love, and love comes from Him, and when we love, it proves that we are from God.

Bible verses for wedding officiant/pastor

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”

When we marry, we let our beloved in all aspects of our lives, becoming stronger for it.

Ephesians 4:1-3

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.”

Unity, peace, patience, forgiveness, humility, and gentleness should always be present in relationships, especially in a marriage.

Romans 15:5-6

“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We are made to worship, but that would be hard to do if there is no unity, and relationships would suffer if there is no unity and God is not in their midst.

Romans 12:10

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Putting others before ourselves is a significant characteristic of love, so if we do it, we are proving our love.

Songs of Solomon 8:6-7

“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned.”

Giving love messages or letters to those we love can go a long way. Knowing that we are loved makes us stronger and braver.

In Summary

The uncertainties of the future can be scary, especially if we do not have any assurances about it. We are blessed because God gave us His Word, and we get the reassurance of God’s guiding hand no matter how little we know about the future.

Getting married opens up a new chapter of the unknown future, which might cause us to fear what could happen. But, if we are ruled over by fear, we will be robbed of hope, joy, and the opportunity to love.

The Word of God assures us that God will do what is best for us so we can bravely face the future and let love bloom in our lives. We can be confident in our love for God and His Word because we know it comes from Him.
