Bible Verses About Wisdom

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

There is only one source of wisdom and good understanding: Christ alone. He can use our favorite Bible verses, spiritual songs, or even fools to understand better.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the first step toward both knowledge and wisdom because a moral life starts with respect and humility before the One who made us and saved us.

The idea of seeking knowledge puts biblical wisdom in the big picture, and this verse also says that such a search is excellent and fitting. You can learn moral and theological truths by looking at the world around you but always starting it with the fear of the Lord.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

A wise man will make decisions based on what God directs him to do. We cannot achieve wisdom without trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. Trusting the Lord is intimately connected to “fearing” him.

“With all your heart” means that trust is more than just agreeing with something intellectually. It is a deep reliance on the Lord, firmly believing that He will take care of you and keep His Word. A wise man will make decisions based on what God directs him to do.

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

John reminds us to gain wisdom and use it to discern the things behind people’s words and beliefs. The Christian faith is not superficial nature. Spiritual influences guiding people’s speech and actions can be “tested” by observing their thoughts and behavior and by spiritual discernment.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you can test and approve God’s will—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

Those who belong to Christ Jesus are still in danger in this age of sin, so they must take a stand against it. By putting something to the test, you may be able to figure out what it’s worth.

Bible Verses About Knowledge

“Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.” Psalm 19:2

One way to get to know the Lord Jesus Christ more is His display of knowledge through His creation. Looking around, you can tell how inscrutable His ways are and brilliant.

“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out!” Romans 11:33

The knowledge that God possesses is not only boundless but also unquestionable.

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, so that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom have hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:2-3

When God took on human form in the person of Jesus Christ and came to earth, He became the essence of knowledge.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2

The understanding of humans is weak apart from God. Also, the Bible describes it as being of no value since it is not seasoned by love.

“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.” Proverbs 12:1

Ah! This verse may be a hard pill to swallow for some, but this verse here is immense and profound. The intelligent heart acquires knowledge and is not afraid of correction.

This is a beautiful reminder, too, that when we correct and discipline, it should always come from a place of great and steadfast love and God’s wisdom.

Receiving: Bible Verses About Wisdom And Knowledge

“To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his.” Job 12:13

God is the source and giver of all the treasures, including knowledge and wisdom. We can try to look for it in books, in people, or even in religion, but none of those will sustain us. We seek from Christ Jesus if we want actual knowledge and wisdom.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

If one lacks wisdom and needs to receive it, you must ask God. Believers should have complete faith and ask God for wisdom. James guides believers who lack trial-handling wisdom.

As in the Old Testament, wisdom is a God-given understanding of practical matters. God’s support brings wisdom. God is generous and blameless (He does not want anyone to hesitate to come to Him).

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

It tells us that the Lord gives wisdom that comes from His mouth – the Word of God – and that the wisdom of God leads to knowledge and understanding. We should never forsake wisdom.

James also says that people who don’t have enough insight need to ask for it, and God will give them a lot of it. God wants everyone to know Him, love Him, and have a relationship with Him. That’s why He provides the wisdom that leads to knowledge to everyone who truly seeks Him.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

Do you want to be a wise woman? Or do you prefer to live a long life? The Bible verses about wisdom tell us that to receive wisdom, we must understand that our days here on earth are numbered. Wisdom loves life beyond here on earth, which is an eternal perspective.

Applying: Bible Verses About Wisdom And Knowledge

“Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.” Proverbs 4:8

The word “her” in this verse pertains to wisdom. When we receive wisdom, we are to cherish and meditate on it. We need to embrace wisdom.

Sometimes it doesn’t make sense, and it’s okay to feel that way. Allow our glorious Father’s instruction to direct your path to better understanding.

“The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.” Proverbs 10:8

There is wisdom in silence. Before we act, we need to ask God’s grace to receive it with great understanding. We should never forsake wisdom.

“Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” Proverbs 13:10

These are very practical and helpful scripture quotations. As the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, it moves us to be peace-loving. In arguments and heated discussions, we need to be able to receive advice from people around us. And test human wisdom with the Holy Bible.

“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Proverbs 14:29

The wise seeks knowledge. A wise son does not react to situations but shows restraint. As our everlasting God is patient with us, a wise man does the same and veers away from vile practice.

“This is what the Lord says, “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches.” Jeremiah 9:23

Wisdom gives life, and wisdom preserves it. Peace, humility, and Christ dwell with His people who understand that it is never about them but Christ alone.

When God gives insight, though, desires and selfish ambition exist; it is not for man but for the Kingdom.

Blessings: Bible Verses About Wisdom And Knowledge

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain an understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.” Proverbs 3:13-14

We need to be ready to accept instruction from Christ. Human tradition says we need to do what is practical, but God, who gives generously, tells His children to wait and move when He speaks. God’s Word can save us from many pain and mistakes, which is more valuable than anything.

“Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways.” Proverbs 14:2

Wisdom gives peace and calms your soul. He sends people who are of the same spirit to help us. Man’s wisdom makes us doubt, but He makes us stand firm. Walking upright means going through our days without fear or anxiety about what is to come.

“The One who gets wisdom loves life; the One who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.” Proverbs 19:8

A good life doesn’t just mean financial blessings. It means that the wise hear from Christ and can direct Him to do all good things for His glory. A good life is walking in His purposes and prospering in every way. God forever is our most significant treasure.
