7 Popular Bible Verses About Travel

Traveling can evoke different and intense feelings and emotions in us, and these Bible verses about travel can go with us on our journey.

Scientists and archeologists have found evidence of human travel from thousands and thousands of years ago when any form of transportation was beyond imaginable.

Maybe it is in our nature to explore, to find new things, new experiences, and opportunities.

This drive might also be one of the biggest reasons we improve so quickly.

We explore, learn, and incorporate those learnings into our lives.

I love traveling, talking to people, taking pictures, trying new food, and learning about different cultures.

Aside from being fun, it is also educational.

Traveling has opened my eyes, mind, and heart to how my brothers and sisters in other parts of the world live their lives and how they thank God for it.

It brings me closer to my fellow men and God.

What are Bible Verses About Travel?

There are so many stories about traveling in the Bible.

We can read about how the Israelites traveled from Egypt to the Promised Land.

It is a story about how Abraham traveled from his hometown to a new place that God promised to Him.

People can also read about Jacob’s travels when he fled from his home because of the consequences of his deceit.

So many people in the Bible traveled for different reasons, and their stories could be our stories.

Like the Israelites, we might be traveling to a new place and a new life.

Like Jacob, our journey might be fueled by guilt and the consequences of our actions.

Or maybe, like Abraham, God is leading us somewhere new and better.

Traveling has been a part of human life since time immemorial, and from the beginning, God has been there with us and for us.

He never changes, and like how He helped and protected all the people in the Bible in their journey, so will He help and protect us wherever we go.

What Does the Bible Say About Why We Should Travel?

You might be surprised to know that God commands us to travel.

Matthew 28:18-20 says,

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”’

These words came directly from Jesus after He had risen.

He was making His will known to the people that followed Him.

They were the ones who would continue Jesus’ work here on earth, and Jesus commanded them to go into all the nations as His representatives.

No matter where we go, we bring the banner of Christ.

Every word we speak reflects the God that we worship and follow.

Every step we take, God is there with us.

Being a Christian can be compared to bringing our family name with us.

It is a massive part of our identity, and nothing can take it away.

So, no matter what the purpose of our travel could be, it should always include making God known to the world through our words and deeds.

Best Bible Verses for Travel

Bible verses for travel and adventure

Isaiah 6:8

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?

And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I.

Send me!”

Our travels have a purpose.

We might have gone on a trip for a vacation, visited loved ones, maybe for work, or many other possibilities.

Whatever our goal is, let us always remember God’s purpose: to do good, be His representatives, and proclaim the Gospel in whatever way possible.

Psalm 34:8

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”

No matter where we go, we must never forget that everything we see and encounter there is made by God or is a blessing from God.

The sunrise and sunset are blessings from God; He created the people we will meet, and the food is from Him.

These experiences can help us draw closer to God.

Bible verses about safe travels

Psalm 91:11

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

God always wants to keep us safe and ensure that we are well taken care of, so He sends angels to guard us against harm and the Enemy’s works.

Proverbs 3:23-24

“Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

Exploring is fun and enjoyable, but there will always be risks that come with it.

God is also with us, and He will keep us safe and give us peace to truly enjoy the new experiences without fear or anxiety.

Bible verses about God’s guidance in our travels

Exodus 13:21

“By day, the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light so that they could travel by day or night.”

This is part of the story of how God saved the Israelites from the slavery of the Egyptians.

They were not just going from one place to another but also stepping into a completely different way of life.

The Israelites used to be enslaved, and now they are not.

They did not have freedom, but now they do.

Traveling is not always fun and exciting.

Sometimes, it can be scary because of the uncertainties, but God will always be there to guide us and strengthen us no matter what we go through.

Psalm 139:9-10

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

God is always present everywhere, so wherever we go,

He is there.

We cannot find a place where God is absent, and to be honest, why would we want to find such a place?

Traveling with God guiding us is one of the best experiences.

Deuteronomy 31:8

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Some dangers go along with traveling, but we can always do our best to prepare ourselves for any possible situation.

We can also hold on to the fact that God will guide us in whatever we do and wherever we go.

He will always be there for us, and He will never fail us.

In Summary

Traveling is part of our daily lives now.

We travel to work, the supermarket, a well-deserved vacation, a new life, and adventure.

God blessed us with the means to accomplish this.

No matter how light or heavy our hearts feel when we think about traveling, God is with us.

We can always count on that.

God will direct us, protect us, guide us, teach us, accept us, and most importantly, He will love us.

We are His children, so He will always guide us to what is best for us.

Enjoy the blessing of travels, and rest assured that God is beside us every step of the way.
