17 Beautiful Bible Verses for a New Home

A house is a blessing from God, but through the help of Bible verses for a new home, we can turn our houses into homes.

Most people dream of buying or building their own house. Different people have different dream houses; some want to live in the city, some in the suburbs, some want a house that looks like it is taken straight out of a fairy tale, and some prefer a more modern design.

Some even view having a house as an accomplishment, a milestone. And, a big part of me believes that aside from the logical reasons, we view houses as essential parts of our lives because we long for a place we can call our own. We want a place where we know we belong. Let us see what the Lord tells us by exploring Bible verses for a new home.

What are Bible Verses for a New Home?

We want God’s blessings to encircle our lives. Since we view houses as essential parts of our lives, we should know what the Bible says about this and what lessons and guidelines we can take from the Word of God to fill our houses with joy and love and turn these houses into homes.

Bible verses for a new home can help us focus on the more essential aspects of a house – our family. Above all, God tells us to give more importance to our relationship with Him and others. We can be guided by the Bible verses for a new home.

God’s word can also bring us comfort whenever we feel worries or fear connected to the home we are building or have built. Even if we move into a new house, even if we undergo so many changes, God remains unchanged, and He will always be there for us.

What Does the Bible Say About Homes?

The Bible mentions houses or homes many times. God knows us, so He also knows the importance of houses and homes in our lives. This is why He told the Israelites to write His words on their doorposts (Deuteronomy 6:9).

We spend a significant part of our time in our houses, so it is only wise that we surround it with the Word of God. Jesus also valued the merits of visiting people in their houses and dining with them to strengthen His relationship with them.

Some of the houses He visited were that of Mary and Martha, Simon the Pharisee, and one of the most remarkable ones, Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). Zacchaeus was an outcast because he worked for the Roman empire as a tax collector. People viewed him as a traitor, cheat, and, therefore, a sinner.

I imagine He had no friends, and then Jesus came along and had a conversation with him while he was up on a tree and even announced to everyone that He would dine with Zacchaeus. Jesus showed acceptance and love by visiting someone in their house and dining with them.

Best Bible Verses for a New Home

Bible verses for building a new home

1 Chronicles 16:34

“O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.”

Having a house we can call our own, raising our family there, and turning it into a home is a great blessing from God. We should thank Him, first, for putting the dream in our hearts, and second, for giving us whatever we need to make this dream come true.

Psalm 127:1

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain.”

The Lord should always be in the midst of our lives and homes because if He is not there, then our house would be missing the essential factor to have love and understanding abound in it.

Matthew 7:24

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

Proverbs 24:27

“Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.”

Bible verses for house blessing or a house warming

Hebrews 3:4

“For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.”

We must acknowledge that even if the house is built by human hands, it truly takes God’s hands to make it a home.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.”

Having a benediction recited during our housewarming is powerful, and it would remind everyone in there that God dwells in that home.

2 Chronicles 7:15-16

“Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.”

Bible verses for a house entryway

Proverbs 24:3-4

“By wisdom, a house is built, and through understanding, it is established; through knowledge, its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”

It takes a lot to build a house, but it takes even more to build a home so let wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and love always be present in our homes so that joy can prosper greatly.

Psalm 121:8

“The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.”

The entryway is an integral part of the house because it connects the world to our house and vice versa. This is why a proclamation of blessing in it would be ideal.

Joshua 24:15

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Deuteronomy 28:6

“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.”

1 Samuel 25:6

“And thus you shall greet him: ‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.”

Bible verses for different rooms

Psalm 4:8

“I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.”

Psalm 122:7

“May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”

Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Proverbs 3:24

“If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

Matthew 7:24

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

This verse is from one of the most famous parables of Jesus, and we can learn a lot from it. Jesus used building a house as an illustration of the lesson about obedience. Love begets obedience, and if we love God and each other, we can demonstrate that by obeying them.

In Summary

God listens to our prayers and knows our hearts better than we do. We might be feeling excited, elated, or maybe even apprehensive about the coming changes in our lives that a new home would bring, but we must always keep in mind that God is with us, and He will never fail us.

We must acknowledge Him in everything, in every corner of our house; we must speak His blessings and see how wonderfully He works in our lives. Let God be the center of our lives and our homes, let us trust Him, His plan, and heart, and witness how much joy and love will abound in our lives and our homes.
