Noon usually signifies half of the day. Praying at noon usually means a retreat to gain back strength to finish the day. Midday prayers are routinely done every noon or after lunch. Prayers that we do for Jesus provide us guidance for the rest of the day. Midday prayers are for giving thanks for the blessings that God has given us so far. Orthodox Midday Prayers

The Trisagion Prayer

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who art in all places and fillest all things; Treasury of good things and Giver of life: Come and dwell in us and cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O gracious Lord. Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal: have mercy on us. (Thrice) Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

All-holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake. Lord, have mercy. (Thrice) Glory to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name; thy kingdom comes; thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.

Antiochian Midday Prayers

A Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Arising from sleep, I thank thee, O holy Trinity, because of the abundance of thy goodness and long-suffering thou wast not wroth with me, lazy and sinful as I am; neither hast thou destroyed me in my transgressions: but in thy compassion raised me, as I lay in despair; that at dawn I might sing the glories of thy Majesty. Do thou now enlighten the eyes of my understanding, open my mouth to receive thy words, teach me thy commandments, help me to do thy will, confessing thee from my heart, singing and praising thine All-holy Name: of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Jewish Midday Prayers

A psalm of praise. Of David.

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty – and I will meditate on your wonderful works; they tell of the power of your excellent results – and I will proclaim your wondrous deeds. They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. The Lord is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion for all he has made.

All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The Lord upholds all who fall.

What is the Significance of Midday Prayers?

Being able to pray at noon means having a daily conversation with God. Your daily prayer every midday gives you the courage to surpass the day. When we think of midday prayers, it revolves around the idea of Jesus providing us throughout the day. The idea of a midday prayer is making a connection with Christ, trying to embody peace in the afternoon.

The middle of the day can be our free time; usually, we also eat lunch at this hour. During this time of the day, we take our minds off things and make peace with Jesus. At noon it usually gives us the time we need to relax and have time for ourselves. No better time than having your free time with God, right?

Structure of Midday Prayers

What we have here is a basic structure of how midday prayers should be. Since you will do this as a routine, you might as well plan it out to have a specific flow daily. Making a plan will ensure that everything will be in the correct order. It won’t be much of a hassle. But also ensure that you don’t make it boring, so it won’t be such a drag for you to do daily. Make it personal. This will put you in the mindset that you always look forward to your daily midday prayer.

Preparation

Prepare yourself mentally and spiritually; this will ensure that you’re on the right track in your day. Having a clouded mind will not make you focus at all. Make sure that you are calm and collected before praying. I suggest you have some quiet time with Christ before you start your prayer.

Prepare everything beforehand, making it easier for your time with God. Tidy the room you are praying in. Make sure that the room has the right vibe for peace. Having your prayer room is better, but even the simple room where it is peaceful is good enough.

Praise

You can start your midday prayers by praising God in all His glory. Singing worship songs can set the mood before your quiet time with God. Focus directly on God. During this time, adore Him for who He is – His names, His character, His roles, etc. Worship and praise God with your heart, mind, and voice.

Scripture Reading

You can do this before or after your midday prayers. This will broaden your knowledge about how you perceive your prayer. Reading the scriptures gives you the chance to know God more. It helps you to align your goals and plans to His will.

Response

Waiting for God to answer your prayer takes a lot of faith. But sometimes, we feel like He doesn’t answer our prayers. We feel like it, but that isn’t true at all. Sometimes we just have to see the bigger picture. Christ always heeds our calls; sometimes, we don’t see it immediately. We always have to be thankful for what Jesus provides us. That is why it’s crucial to have constant communication with Him.

Prayers

Listing down prayer points will guide you as you go about your midday prayers. You can also pray for the people around you. Ask for their prayer requests and you can include them during your midday prayers.

Conclusion

This is the time to ask God for His divine help to meet our needs, solve our problems, or simply a prayer of request. Let your requests be made known to God.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath that I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. Though I constantly take my life into my hands, I will not forget your law.

The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. (Psalm 119:105-112 NIV)
