Common Bible Verse of the Day Translations

King James Version

The King James Version (KJV) is an English translation of the Bible for the Church of England published in 1611 and sponsored by King James I. It had a profound influence on the literature of the past. The King James Version is the most faithful and scholarly translation to date.

The only downside of this translation is its readability. It may be a bit challenging to read this translation because of its Old English.

New King James Version

The New King James Version (NKJV) is a modern translation of the Bible that preserves the purity and excellent beauty of the original King James Version. It is one of the most accurate and reliable translations of the Bible.

New Living Translation

The New Living Translation (NLT) focuses more on conveying the thought behind the original text of the Bible. It’s more of a thought-for-thought translation in contrast to its word-for-word translation counterpart. It’s easy to read but accurately communicates the original text of the Bible.

New International Version

The New International Version (NIV) is one of the most well-known translations of the Bible published in 1978. The main goal for its publication was to meet the need for a modern translation of Scripture by Bible scholars. The New International Version is well-known for its easy readability and faithfulness to the original text of the Bible.

English Standard Version

The English Standard Version (ESV) is an English translation of the Bible published by Crossway in 2001. The English Standard Version is dependent upon recently published critical editions of the original Hebrew and Greek texts. It’s a word-for-word translation of the Bible. It’s also easy to read and faithful to its original text. Many evangelical pastors and theologians endorse the English Standard Version for its excellence and depth of meaning.

Why Read the Bible Verse of the Day?

Many of us fall into the pit of destruction simply because we lack guidance and understanding. Even God Himself said that His people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).

So, how do we address this kind of lacking?

The Word of God is like a lamp unto our feet, guiding us to the right path (Psalm 119:105). We need to read His Word regularly to increase our knowledge and have His divine guidance. Let’s talk more about why we need to read His Word every day.

To Strengthen Our Faith

As Christians, we have to take care of our faith. Many things influence our faith, and it depends on how grounded we are in Jesus. Trials, adversities, and challenges will either deteriorate or strengthen our faith. The problems we encounter will either make us bitter or better.

Jesus is the “author and the perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). The level of our faith depends on how intimate we are with Jesus. To increase our faith, we need to get closer to Jesus.

But, how do we get close to Jesus? In the same way, we get closer to people; by communicating regularly. A relationship will shatter without proper and frequent communication.

Communication is a two-way process. We either listen or talk. You can’t expect a relationship to work when one party only does the talking. There is a perfect time to talk and a perfect time to listen.

In our spiritual walk with Jesus, praying is our way of talking to Him. However, you can’t expect a relationship to work when all you do is talk without listening to your partner. So, how do we listen to God’s voice? One of the many ways is to read His Word. We get to know who He is more when we read the Bible. And, when you know someone deeply, you trust them more, right? I mean, how can you trust someone you barely know? That’s why we need to read His Word to increase our faith in Him.

We will not be shaken by the trials and temptations of this world when we have great faith in God. Instead, we will conquer and endure to the end!

Many people succumb to defeat because they don’t have enough faith. Having great faith allows us to overcome trials and become victorious in every situation. That’s why we need to strengthen our faith by reading God’s Word. Reading Bible Verses of the Day is a simple way of feeding yourself spiritually.

To Know God More Intimately

“Not everyone who calls Me, ‘Lord’, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, only those who will do the will of God.” (Matthew 7:21)

Many Christians call Jesus their Lord but run their own lives. They say they’re Christians but their actions speak otherwise. Faith without action is dead, and everyone should produce fruit in keeping with repentance. As Christians, our faith should be evident in our deeds.

In Matthew 7:23, God said, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” The Hebrew word for “knew” here is “Yada” which means “to know someone intimately.” It’s the same Hebrew word used in Genesis 4:1 in the Old Testament that says Adam knew Eve. The word “knew” here indicates intimacy or knowing someone most intimately. It’s crucial to have an intimate relationship with God to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

How can you know God’s will when you don’t even have a relationship with Him? You can’t do God’s will for your life when you don’t even know what it is! Most of us in the modern age can’t hear what God is speaking directly to us the same way He did to the prophets before. But, we have His Word to guide us and reveal to us His will. So, it’s essential to read the Bible to know God more intimately.

To Understand God’s Truth

Reading God’s Word will help us understand His truth, and the truth will set us free from all wrong beliefs and ignorance. Many people have been blinded by wrong dogmas and teachings. This spiritual blindness is a work of the enemy and must cease to exist. That’s why God calls every Christian to win people and preach the gospel to counter the attack of the enemy. Reading the Bible will equip us with God’s divine wisdom and guide us in our daily life.

To Become More Christ-like

Reading the Word of God will help us know Jesus more. We get to read how He was like on Earth, and how He treated people. Jesus was obedient to God and sacrificed His life for us. We learned how to forgive and love others, and how to obey God. The more time we spend reading the Bible and the more we seek God, the stronger our identity in Christ becomes.

It Changes Our Perspective about Life

Reading the Bible increases our knowledge of the authoritative and inerrant Word of God. It helps illuminate our outlook in life and changes our perspective. When you are bombarded with the promises of God daily, you become more optimistic and cheerful. What you feed your mind will influence how you perceive things.

How to Effectively Study the Bible Verse of the Day

Pray

The first thing you should do before reading the Word of God is to pray. Ask for God’s wisdom, and allow the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes. Thank God for His Word, and ask Him to speak to you in a personal way through His Word.

Read

The most important thing is to read the Bible Verses of the Day. Read it with a humble heart and a listening ear.

Meditate

Meditating on what you’ve read is also crucial. You need to contemplate and reflect on what you’ve read. In what way can that verse impact and transform you? Think about it and evaluate yourself as a person, too. Maybe God is trying to lead you to a decision, or correct your wrong behavior.

Apply

The Bible aims to transform us, not merely inform us. You should apply what you’ve read so that you can become more Christ-like, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit will manifest. It will please God when you reflect the character of Jesus.

How to Prepare Yourself to Read the Bible Verse of the Day?

Renew Your Mind And Humble Yourself

When you read God’s Word, the first thing to do is to renew your mind and humble yourself. Don’t think of it as a chore or an obligation you need to fulfill. Think of it as a way to spend quality time with your first love. You’ll be more excited and motivated to read.

Humbling yourself means putting away your crown for a moment. It’s exalting God by thinking of yourself less. Instead of checking your phone first thing in the morning, set that aside for a while. Read the Bible first and meditate on God’s Word. To humble yourself is like saying, “God, I don’t need or want anything else but You alone.”

Set A Time And Be Consistent With It

Read God’s Word in the morning and seek God before you start your day and in the evening before it ends. In Joshua 1:8, it says to meditate on God’s Word day and night. Doing so will make you prosperous

Designate A Comfortable And Quiet Place

Find a place that’s quiet and conducive for prayer and reading the Bible. Make sure it’s a place with a peaceful ambiance that allows you to concentrate.

Turn Away From Distractions

Get away from things that will distract you. Dedicate all of your attention to reading the Word of God.

Set Goals And Commit To Your Plans

Setting goals will help you organize everything and inspire you to take action. You can make plans such as Bible reading plans, devotional plans, and many more. Something like finishing a whole book of the Bible within the month.
